For years, engineers at the BAE Systems site in Brough regularly used a large compressed air cannon to fire frozen (thawed) chickens at aircraft components to recreate bird strike conditions. This facility has now been relocated to a sister site and today saw the start of the demolition of the large concrete structure where these tests were undertaken.
Estate Manager Peter Melling said “whilst it is a sad day for a popular part of the sites history, this building had reached the end of its useful life and this work will clear the way for future development in this area”.
