Tenant spotlight: Cablescan doubles in size since joining the Humber Enterprise Park
Established in 1994, Cablescan manufactures high-performance electrical cable assemblies and control panels for aerospace, space, defence and commercial applications. Their mission statement is simple: ‘To be a world class performing company delivering a competitive advantage to our customers’.
The Humber Enterprise Park’s financial incentives have helped the company grow in a number of ways. After a direct competitor went into liquidation, Cablescan had the spare funds available to be able to buy out their assets and equipment. The move attracted more work from other businesses, and allowed the company to recruit significantly.
The setting up of an apprenticeship programme was also aided by the savings made at The Humber Enterprise Park. Cablescan now have four apprentices, who attend college once a week supported by internal training on site. Cablescan also take the apprentices to exhibitions, giving them exposure in front of customers.
A further benefit of the site for Cablescan is its location close to Hull port. The company operates from a second location in Nagele in the Netherlands, making the company well positioned to support customers throughout Europe. The team in Brough can board a ferry at 6pm, and be in Holland by 8am the next morning, ready for the new business day.
With many of Cablescan’s customer base being from the military sector, Managing Director Richard Willis believes that the site’s 24-hour security is an added bonus that provides them with peace of mind.
Looking to the future, Richard hopes to secure more military long-term projects, further increase employment and continue growing the company.
