Tenant Spotlight – BAE Systems Host Girls into Engineering event a Success

26th April 2017
Our tenant BAE Systems recently held a ‘Girls into Engineering’ event for local students here at the Humber Enterprise Park in Brough.

The day was designed for female students to meet with colleagues working within Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) sectors, allowing them to gain an understanding of what it is like to work in engineering at BAE Systems.

The event also aimed to dispel myths about what it’s like to be an engineer by showcasing the different activities which will be carried out by BAE staff on a day to day basis. The students also found out more about the range of skills and attributes they require in order to make it in the STEM industry sector.

During the course of the day-long event, students met with both engineers and apprentices from the business, along with being taken on a tour of some of the world class facilities on offer both at BAE and the Humber Enterprise Park.

BAE are focused on encouraging more female staff into the industry and creating a diverse work force. They look to highlight the many different roles and opportunities offered by working for them whether girls start as apprentices, graduates or in one of the other many roles offered by the company.
